March 2007 | A few of our readers here have expressed displeasure with the "finger pointing" toward "Jewish-Americans" and a comprehension that CSE "loaths" the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). These expressions failed to indicate whether those complaining have actually read the ongoing articles whereby CSE expresses concern over Israeli domestic and foreign policy and the lockstep support the United States unceasingly provides - seemingly to the continued detriment of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. These expressions also failed to answer what strategic benefit U.S. support of Israel provides or how Israel provides "stability in the region". Instead, we here at CSE are perceived as closet anti-semites. As this claim has no logical support, it appears to be opinion and may well be a collective opinion that is trotted out in an attempt to oppose or detract from open argument over why the U.S. doles out support to another nation to their own detriment. Opinions are welcome.
So, since it is seemingly not kosher to question Israel or the motives of Jewish-Americans in public office here in the land of the free, let's take a peek at some editorials from within the Nation of Israel itself. We assume that whatever criticism from within will be more acceptable and not anti-semitic. Self described as "Israel's leading daily newspaper", Haaretz, "has been publishing an English-language edition for the past five years, as a joint project with the International Herald Tribune". Further, "The IHT brings to the partnership its own highly-distinguished staff of journalists and the vast reporting resources of its prestigious parent newspaper the New York Times." So, is this not an interesting source of information in the very least? Haaretz currently is publishing an editorial series entitled A Special Place in Hell by Bradley Burston. It discusses relevant Israeli politics and policy in an equally questioning manner. Settle in and read opinion from within.
