October 11, 2007 | The mailman can, at times, deliver some good information. The Republican National Convention has issued another letter begging for funds disguised as a survey/census making their minions believe their opinions matter. The tactics are not quite as brash as when the GOP had more of a stranglehold on Congress, but the tactics overall are still simplistic appeals to emotion.
This survey appeals to the nostalgia of the days of yore by again digging up the poor old actor and asking whether the party should be "centered around the conservative principles of President Ronald Reagan?". The letter also pokes at Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as if they were demonic leaders ready to gut the Patriot Act and bring U.S. troops home from Iraq - something the American electorate desired in 2006 and, as the GOP knows, has not come close to reality. There is real power in the simple-minded appeal that Democrats are all liberals supported by "big labor union bosses, radical environmentalists, gun grabbers and trial lawyers". And, like the mainstream media, the only candidates considered viable in the upcoming presidential race are Clinton, Obama and Edwards. Nothing odd really, as keeping those three isolated demonstrates the poor quality of Democratic candidates looking for the "keys to the White House". In keeping with past surveys, the end of the survey requires a minimum donation of $11 for the survey costs or you "favor electing liberal Democrats over the next ten years". If you don't send money, does your opinion matter? You can view the four page RNC letter and survey/census by scrolling down. ___________________________________ 10.8.2007 |
